大分県竹田市「姫だるま」とは
「姫だるま」は、旧岡藩（現竹田市）に由来する女だるまで、その背景には家運隆盛の象徴となった下級武士の妻「綾女」の物語があります。現在は後藤家のお嫁さんの手で大切に受け継がれている伝統工芸品として、ただ１軒のみで製作され、江戸時代から変わらぬ材料を使った手仕事は竹田市の無形民俗文化財に指定されています。

This is a KOUYASOMEKAI original tenugui featuring HIMEDARUMA, a traditional handicraft of Taketa City, Oita Prefecture, carefully made using the nasen technique. The material used is soft and comfortable cotton cloth. The motif is associated with Taketa City and is a good omen, making it a perfect gift.

What is “HIMEDARUMA” in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture?
This DARUMA originates from OKAHAN (now Taketa City) and has a female motif.
(“AYAME” is the wife of a warrior of OKAHAN).
Currently, women of the Goto family are producing this product. As a traditional craft that has been carefully handed down, their handiwork using materials unchanged since the Edo period is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset of Taketa City.
